We didn’t get a chance to watch these awesome people perform last year, so we are beyond stoked to have them join our SCS this year! Get to know them a little better by reading the bio below… Hello! I’m Efren Macias, Co-founder drummer and leader of The Brass Factory. Please allow me to introduce you to our group based right here on the Central California Coast. We are a nine- member band featuring a three-piece horn section, four piece rhythm section with a male and a female vocalists. The group is comprised of musicians who are highly skilled and passionate about the art. Each member is a lifelong musician that has performed with many of the local bands and others throughout the United States. Efren Macias, business owner by day, drummer by night Dave Carlson, computer network engineer, lead vocalist Lisa Hendricks, account executive KCOY, actress, lead vocals Lyndon Sobel, structural engineer, music director, baritone sax Dr. Bill Pierce, Orthopedics and Chiropractic, tenor sax Major David Rackley, composer, professor Cal Poly (retired) trumpet Fred Monsibius, automotive technician, lead guitar Ross Mayfield, commercial artist, bass guitar Kalua Kuhlne, real estate professional, keyboards TBF plays a wide variety of music with carefully selected songs to reach a wide range audience. Lisa Osburn has been a self-taught professional artist for 25 years, originally hailing from Sacramento, California. She has been a working artist for the past 15 years and has shown her large-scale acrylic works in a variety of arenas throughout California. Lisa has also been part of a feminist garage punk duo Bearcats and has played with punk legends The Subhumans as well as pop punk bands like Joyce Manor. Along with working part time at a local boutique called The Sock Drawer in San Luis Obispo, she is working on pursuing a new career as a tattoo artist. She is apprenticing under her husband Scott Osburn and hopes to incorporate her portraits into this new medium as her skills improve. Lisa is heavily influenced by old Hollywood characters, writers as well as all types of musicians’ punk and otherwise. Bold, bright colors and metallic tones are also a theme throughout her acrylic and watercolor work, and she hopes to master the neo traditional style of tattooing in her future artistic pursuits. Summer Concert Series -- Mannequins By Day

Based out of San Luis Obispo, CA, Mannequins by Day is a band focused on pairing a Zeppelin type concert experience with contemporary soundscapes and CSNY style vocal harmonies. Their philosophy is to create high energy, danceable groove music with a dense sonic landscape and soaring vocal harmonies. Comprised of five members, the band features Conner Martin on Drums/Sampler/Vocals, Evan Davies on Bass/Keys/Vocals and Vince Cimo on Guitar/Keys/Vocals, Melinda Kincaid and Kelley Lokensgard on backup vocals. MbD has been playing together since around 2013 and draws on years of experience in other professional acts, such as Moonshiner Collective, Natural Incense and James Rabbit. They are an experienced group of professional musicians with a passion for music.

Summer Concert Series -- Carbon City Lights

Carbon City Lights is a groovy alternative rock band based in San Luis Obispo. Their sound blends folk, pop and rock with some funk, and even a little country twang. The band’s live performances are fun and energetic, and feature extended jams with tight rhythm and dueling guitars. Carbon City Lights started as a solo project by singer-songwriter, Michael Venia, in 2010 in Toronto, and morphed into a full band in 2018 with Central Coast locals Bret Heenan (lead guitar), Dan Hernandez (bass), and Gerald Purify (drums). Listeners will appreciate the authenticity that comes from Venia’s lyrics and shines through in his powerful vocals.
