Dark Star makes small lots of premium, hand-crafted wines, including traditional Bordeaux and Rhône styles, creative California blends, and some things not everyone has: Montepulciano, Tempranillo, Viognier, Roussanne, Rosé of Grenache and a Port. Our Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are definitely worth the trip. Our menu presently includes about twenty different varietals and blends.
Drop by and visit our spacious indoor tasting room and outdoor patio, both with comfortable seating. Bring your own picnic and enjoy wine by the glass, or Dark Star snacks if it is your lucky day.
Dark Star is pet and family friendly. Check out our observation beehive, ax throwing pitch, free-range chickens and winery cats. DetailsRosebud appeals to all ages with the music of the Grateful Dead mixed with originals and covers inspired by the Dead. The band re-interprets the music of the Beatles, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and others with a Dead-like spin, resulting in a dance party that appeals to all ages. The band is comprised of veteran Bay Area musicians who have worked with members of the Grateful Dead, David Grisman Quintet, Doobie Brothers, Galactic and many others. Bandleader Scott Cooper's original music gets regular radio airplay on KPIG radio and his debut CD reached #5 national on the national jam band radio chart. Lead guitarist Fred Rodriguez is familiar to SLO residents from his years with Three-Legged Dawg. Rosebud has performed throughout the state including the Siren (Morro Bay), SLO Brew (San Luis Obispo), Evergreen Lodge (Yosemite), Terrapin Crossroads (San Rafael), Club Fox (Redwood City), Felton Music Hall, Michaels on Main (Soquel) and many more.
